Non-urgent elective surgeries suspended on the Gold Coast

 Some elective surgeries are being suspended on the Gold Coast as the latest COVID-19 wave continues to put pressure on our already struggling health system.

Gold Coast University Hospital has now moved to Tier Three Status, which will see the postponement of some lower category surgeries.

Health Minister Yvette D’Ath confirmed the move at a press conference on the Gold Coast on Thursday.

“I saw an update from Gold Coast University Hospital come in overnight, saying they are moving to Tier Three, so this will mean that they will probably suspend some of the lower category planned care,” Ms Dath said.
